About the event
The Bowral Classic is timed, but according to the organiser it is a ride, not a race; times are for personal reference only. It is held on open roads under New South Wales road rules, police patrol the course and riders who break road rules are disqualified. No more than two riders may ride side by side, aero/time-trial bars are banned and e-bikes meeting the Australian standard are permitted. The minimum age is 12; riders aged 12 to 16 need an AusCycling licence and must be accompanied by an adult. Insurance is compulsory, if necessary as day cover offered by the organiser.
Riders start from Bong Bong Street in Bowral at 75-second intervals in order of arrival, each within the time slot for their chosen course (2026). There are rest stops along the way, some with mechanics and a bag return service. Cut-off times are based on minimum average speeds of 19 km/h (150 km), 17 km/h (120 km) and 15 km/h (85 km).
Participants can raise funds for a charity of their choice; since the first edition in 2016 the Classic events have raised more than A$600,000. In 2026 the finish and event village were in Loseby Park, 1.6 km from the start; parking was in the surrounding streets.
