El Giro de Rigo

Mass-participation race of former Colombian pro Rigoberto Urán, where in his words riders should feel “like professionals for a day”. The 2026 edition (“Edición La Sucursal”) starts in Cali in Valle del Cauca. There are two routes, the long “Reto Salsa” (about 180 km according to the official GPX) and the shorter “Reto Caña” (about 70 km), each with KOM sections.

About the event
El Giro de Rigo is the mass-participation race of Colombian pro Rigoberto Urán; 2026 sees its sixth edition. The 2026 edition is called "La Sucursal" – Cali is known as the "Sucursal del Cielo". The start is at the Plazoleta Jairo Varela in the north of Cali, but unlike usual the finish is not at the start but at the Centro de Eventos Valle del Pacífico in Yumbo, where the award ceremonies are also held (2026).
Both routes share the first kilometres. The long "Reto Salsa" follows the Vía al Mar to Dagua and Loboguerrero, then via Alto Calima, Calima-El Darién, Yotoco and Vijes to Yumbo, with around 3,200 metres of climbing according to press reports. The short "Reto Caña" runs via Bitaco and La Cumbre to Yumbo (around 1,600 m of climbing). Roads are closed section by section for the duration of the race, the Vía al Mar for example from 4:30 to 10 am (2026).
In 2026 the start pens are open from 4 to 5:30 am, the start is at 6 am. A VIP start pen is available for a surcharge (2026: 1,000,000 COP). Besides Urán, guests such as Egan Bernal, Peter Sagan and Rui Costa have been announced for 2026. The third registration phase in 2026 was reserved for Banco de Occidente customers, paying with the bank's card.
