Regarded as Britain's toughest one-day sportive: 112 miles through the Lake District over all the major passes, such as Kirkstone, Honister, Hardknott (up to 30%) and Wrynose. Held since 1999 in memory of Fred Whitton, starting and finishing in Grasmere; places are allocated by ballot.
